Frequently Asked Questions
What are the CN Tower's opening hours?
The CN Tower is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The last elevator to the observation levels departs at 9:30 PM. Hours may vary seasonally and during special events. We recommend checking our website or calling ahead before your visit.
How do I buy CN Tower tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online through our website up to 30 days in advance, or at the box office on the day of your visit (subject to availability). We strongly recommend booking online in advance, especially during peak times and weekends.
What is timed admission?
To reduce wait times and enhance your experience, all tickets feature timed admission. Your ticket is valid for entry within a specific time window (usually 30 minutes), but once inside, you can stay as long as you like! This system helps manage capacity and ensures shorter elevator wait times.
How long should I plan for my visit?
Most visitors spend 1-2 hours exploring the observation levels. This allows time to enjoy the views from multiple levels, walk on the Glass Floor, take photos, and visit the gift shop. If you're dining at 360 Restaurant, plan for an additional 1.5-2 hours for your meal.
Is the CN Tower accessible?
Yes! The CN Tower is fully accessible. All observation levels can be reached by elevator, and wheelchairs are available at the entrance (first come, first served). Service animals are welcome. Please note that EdgeWalk has specific physical requirements and may not be suitable for all visitors.
What's the difference between General Admission and The Top?
General Admission includes access to the Main Observation Level (346m) and Lower Observation Level (342m) with the Glass Floor.
The Top includes everything in General Admission PLUS access to the highest observation platform at 447m (1,465 feet) — the highest public viewing area in the Western Hemisphere!
Is there parking at the CN Tower?
Yes, parking is available at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (255 Front Street West), directly connected to the CN Tower. Parking rates vary and discounts may be available with CN Tower ticket validation. We also recommend using public transit — the CN Tower is easily accessible via Union Station (GO Transit, TTC subway, and UP Express).
Can I bring food and drinks to the CN Tower?
Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the CN Tower. However, we have several dining options available, including 360 Restaurant and the Marketplace café on the Main Observation Level where you can purchase snacks and beverages.
What items are not allowed in the CN Tower?
For safety and security reasons, the following items are not permitted:
- Large bags and backpacks
- Tripods and selfie sticks
- Professional camera equipment (without prior approval)
- Drones
- Weapons of any kind
- Outside food and beverages
All visitors pass through security screening similar to airport security.
What should I wear for my visit?
Dress comfortably and appropriately for the season. The outdoor observation areas can be windy and cool, even in summer, so we recommend bringing a light jacket. If you're dining at 360 Restaurant, smart casual attire is required (no shorts, flip-flops, or sportswear).
Can I visit the CN Tower if it's raining or snowing?
Yes! The CN Tower is open in all weather conditions. Indoor viewing areas provide spectacular views rain or shine. In fact, watching a storm roll in from the Tower can be a memorable experience! Note: EdgeWalk may be cancelled in severe weather for safety reasons.
What is EdgeWalk and who can participate?
EdgeWalk is the world's highest hands-free external walk on a building, circling the Tower's main pod at 356m above ground. Participants must be:
- 13 years of age or older
- Between 100-300 lbs (45-136 kg)
- At least 48 inches (122 cm) tall
- In good physical health
EdgeWalk is weather dependent and may be cancelled in high winds or severe weather.
Do children need tickets?
Children 2 and under receive complimentary admission. Children ages 3-13 require a youth or child ticket. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Can I get a refund or exchange my tickets?
Tickets are generally non-refundable but may be exchanged for a different date subject to availability and our refund policy. Please review our Refund Policy for complete details.
Is photography allowed?
Yes! Personal photography and smartphones are welcome. However, professional camera equipment, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted without prior approval. Commercial photography requires special permission.
